Steve Susman, former Executive Director of the Westcott Community Center joins Apter & O’Connor to provide Resource Development Consultant Services for community based organizations that receive US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. The City of Syracuse has hired our team to assist the thirty local CDBG agencies develop performance outcomes and measurement systems, research funding opportunities, write and submit grant/funding applications and identify effective collaborations for proposals and service delivery. Recent funding reductions on the federal, state and local level have resulted in capacity issues and significant budgetary challenges for most of these CDBG recipients. Our approach will offer individualized and tailor-made technical assistance based upon unique organizational strengths, challenges and needs.
This project comes out of the City of Syracuse’s Department of Neighborhood and Business Development and will be directed by Commissioner Paul Driscoll. The A&O/Susman Team brings all of the needed experience for this project in strategic planning and grant writing as well as expertise and skill as trainers, consultants and facilitators. We are delighted about this collaboration with Mr. Susman who brings 37 years of experience in grant writing and reporting, non-profit management and board development.
