Apter & O’Connor continues to collaborate with Steve Susman to provide consultant services for the City of Syracuse, Department of Neighborhood and Business Development. This fall, A & O Associates, Vicki Quigley and Susan Adair have joined our team in working with community based organizations that receive US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. In these times of shrinking funds, we have helped CDBG agencies to strengthen their capacity in several areas that the agency directors and their boards have defined including: governance and board development, performance outcomes and measurement systems, resource development and funding opportunities, effective collaborations for proposals and service delivery. Our approach offers individualized technical assistance based upon unique organizational strengths, challenges and needs. To date we have provided individualized grant writing assistance (including templates), meeting facilitation with Boards, agency leadership and staff to clarify mission, develop action plan or promote inter-agency collaboration. Additionally we have assisted some agencies with developing data management systems and evaluation capacity.
